more information about the workshop

What: The City of Portland Bureau of Emergency Management (PBEM) is partnering with Neighbors West/Northwest to hold a “planning for real” workshop, where participants will hear a brief presentation about Portland’s natural hazard mitigation plan and then work in groups to learn about hazards in their neighborhoods, talk about their concerns, and brainstorm strategies to reduce their risk.

Why: To communicate natural hazard risks in Portland’s west/northwest neighborhoods and central city, and gather information from the community on which projects city offices should prioritize to reduce overall risk.  Community members will learn about their natural hazard risks and how they can partner with city offices to improve the safety of their neighborhoods.  There will also be snacks and opportunities to connect with your neighbors on hazard awareness and preparedness!
